DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
With an experienced understanding of the not for profit sector, the Director of Finance will help provide strategic leadership for the HCESC. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance will be accountable for leadership, consultation, and advice related to all financial aspects of the HCESC. Functionally, the position has a broad mandate which includes financial accounting; financial analysis; reporting; budgeting and forecasting; and transactional accounting operations. A good mixture of detailed day-to-day work is complimented by the implementation of policy and controls with an ongoing focus on the financial big picture. Other areas of responsibility include aspects of human resource management, risk management, project management, policy development, and business development.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or a division of a large corporation or is a senior finance/accounting professional with experience in a non-profit setting. The successful candidate will require an understanding of non-profit reporting and auditing standards with preference given to those with experience in the education sector. The candidate should agree with and adhere to the HCA Statement of Faith and must be able to provide a successful Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
Backed with a post-graduate degree and an accounting designation (Chartered Professional Accountant preferred), the Finance Director requires strong financial and analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. The individual will be known for their ability to exercise ethical and sound judgment and can make solid decisions based on accurate and timely analyses of information. This role is results-oriented and requires proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Position is posted as a .75 FTE with potential for increase to full time as necessary.
